Take Off for Summer Fun

Now is the time to register for the CCS Summer Program. Let us be your passport to fun for Summer 2008! Our summer program runs Monday-Thursday from June 2-June 19. Our programs takes off at 9:00 a.m. each morning and returns at 12 noon. You may purchase tickets for one, two or all three weeks. Children ages 2 1/2- 6 who are toilet-trained are eligible to enjoy classes in Cooking, Art & Crafts, Science, and Creative Movement & Music. Join us for Week One (June 2-5) as we travel to the cool breezes and sandy beaches of the Caribbean Islands. Week Two (June 9-12) will find us way up north enjoying the cool Arctic and Week Three (June 16-19) we will travel to visit our amigos in Mexico. Tickets are available for $130 per week with a one time $20 non-refundable registration fee. Contact the school office at (602) 381-9906 for further details or to obtain a registration form.

An Invitation from Christ Church of the Ascension

To the Parents and Families of Christ Church School:

Every day your family drops your child off at Christ Church School, where he or she receives a wonderful education from the teachers and staff. In case you haven't noticed before, Christ Church School is part of a larger community, the Episcopal Parish of Christ Church of the Ascension. Christ Church of the Ascension was founded in 1963 and has been at this site in beautiful Paradise Valley since 1967, and is part of the Episcopal Diocese of Arizona, whose bishop is The Right Reverend Kirk Smith. On behalf of the clergy, vestry and staff of the parish I would like to formally extend an invitation to any of our CCS families who may be without a church home to worship with us on a Sunday. In addition to our regular worship services, we offer Christian Education for all ages (please see our website for current offerings, Christchurch-az.org).

Our schedule on Sundays is:

8 AM Holy Communion

9 AM Sunday School

10:15 AM Holy Communion with choir

6 PM Holy Communion in the Chapel

We also have two services on Wednesdays in the Chapel:

7AM Holy Communion

10 AM Holy Communion with healing prayers

CCS Open House on January 23rd

Registration for 2008-2009 is now open. If you have a child between the ages of 2 1/2-6, then plan to join us for an Open House on Wednesday, January 23rd. You are invited to Chapel at 9:00 or join us anytime between 9:30-11:30 to tour the campus, visit our classrooms and meet the teachers.

Christ Church School is committed to developing the whole child by providing challenging and creative academic, spiritual and social experiences. With small classes and a student-teacher ratio of 7:1, each child is provided with the highest quality early childhood experiences. Curriculum enhancements include Music, PE, Library and Spanish classes. After-school enrichment programs are available five days a week.

Pajama Drive

A big cheer goes out to all the CCS students (and families) for such a hugely successful Pajama Drive during the month of November. All month long, new and used pajamas were collected, brought to chapel and blessed at the altar, all to benefit Crisis Nursery and United Methodist Outreach Ministries. It is estimated that over 300 pairs of pajamas were collected and donated. What a wonderful gesture of giving by all of the CCS community!

Spring Session of Play and Learn

Enroll now for the Spring session of Play and Learn. Classes will begin on January 11, 2008.

Play and Learn is an early childhood education class specifically designed for parents and their two year-olds. This class provides parents with the opportunity to interact with and observe their child in an informal environment formulated to meet a toddlers' physical, social-emotional, language, cognitive and creative developmental needs. Parents are able to observe their child's growth and development while promoting parent/toddler interactions. Classes meet for one hour and fifteen minutes on Friday mornings. All children must be 20 months old by the first class meeting. An adult must attend class with each child.

(I need to be in my classroom by 6:15pm)

So you may relax and enjoy the show, no cameras or camcorders will be permitted in the Church. We have hired a professional videographer to capture the entire performance and the video will be available for purchase. Family photos/videos may be taken in Rector's Hall after the performance.

Pick a Pumpkin at the CCS Patch

NEW: See the Pumpkin Festival photo album!

Pumpkins, hay bales, scarecrows and games will make our annual Pumpkin Festival fun for all CCS students. Students will visit our patch on either Tuesday, October 30 or Wednesday, October 31. The children will decorate a pumpkin of their choosing, play some pumpkin games, and listen to a fun Halloween story while eating a delicious orange snack. Many thanks to all of the CCS parents who are hard at work planning this enjoyable school-wide event.

Back to School Night

We invite you to our Back to School Night on Thursday, September 27th. We will begin at 6:30 in the parish hall with a short meeting and an ice cream social. Following the meeting, all classrooms will be open. Please take a moment to visit your child's classroom and see all of the lovely artwork on display.
